What's new in Bite Insight
New conditions, smarter profiles & 50+ ingredients
Our largest update yet, and a careful one. Three new health needs join the app: Asthma, Candida Overgrowth (SIFO) and Yeast Intolerance, with flagging grounded in real evidence rather than guesswork. The profile got smarter too, spotting when two of your conditions pull in opposite directions and pointing you to your doctor instead of quietly guessing a trade-off. We added 49 new ingredients to scan for, fixed the scanner so it ignores QR codes, and refreshed several screens along the way.

Help grow the food database
You can now help fill the gaps. When a scan turns up nothing, you can submit the missing product and its details straight to the shared food database, so the next person who scans it gets a result. We also brought our use of Open Food Facts fully in line with their terms, with proper attribution.

Family account linking
Families can now properly share. Instead of managing static profiles for everyone, a Bite Insight+ member can invite family who have their own account to link into the household. Once they accept, their real preferences, allergies and conditions sync live into your family view and stay current as they change them on their side. You can invite by email or a share link, and a pending-invitations list shows who's yet to accept.

Reminders & reliability
A reliability release. We added a friendly nudge for anyone who signed up but never confirmed their email, so fewer people get stuck before they start. We made notifications reach all your devices instead of just one, and fixed an issue that had quietly stopped our analytics from reporting, which helps us spot and fix problems sooner.

Notifications inbox
Notifications got a proper home. A new inbox on your dashboard gathers updates, reminders and account activity in one place, with an unread badge so you know when there's something new. Tapping a notification now takes you to the right screen rather than just opening the app. This release also brought Android push support and a welcome message at the start of your trial.

Better support diagnostics
A behind-the-scenes release to help us help you faster. We added session replay so our support team can see what actually happened when something goes wrong, rather than working from a description. Your privacy comes first here: all text and images are masked, so we see the shape of a problem without seeing your personal information.

Sharper, more accurate flagging
A quality release all about trust. We rebuilt the engine that decides which ingredients to flag so it reads the food's ingredient taxonomy rather than guessing from keywords, which means far fewer mistakes. Flags now tell you exactly which ingredient set them off. We also redesigned the Bite Insight+ upgrade panel and stamped out some stubborn false positives, like caramel colour being flagged as sugar.

Free trial, more regions & reminders
The biggest release since launch. We introduced a 7-day free trial so you can try everything Bite Insight+ offers before committing, added India and Australia as supported regions with their own offline databases, and built a reminder near the end of the trial so it never lapses by surprise. The offline-database screen was redesigned too, and there's now a gentle prompt when your app falls behind the latest version.

Cancer & Cystic Fibrosis support
Two significant health conditions joined the app, each with the detail they deserve. Cancer support includes colorectal and stomach subtypes, and Cystic Fibrosis covers the standard, CFRD and modulator variants. Flagging is tuned to each one, so a scan reflects what genuinely matters for that condition rather than a generic rule.

Launch & routing fixes
A quick stability release. The main fix sorted a "Page Not Found" some people hit when opening the app from cold. We also made the "What's New" screen appear before the dashboard so updates don't get missed, and made sure your home country saves reliably.

Recipe community & sharing
Bite Insight got social. You can now browse recipes shared by other Bite Insight+ members, save the ones you like, and share your own with a rich preview that opens straight back in the app. Tap any ingredient in a recipe and you jump to its full scan result. Behind the scenes we also nearly halved the app's download size.

Halal support
This release opened Bite Insight up to more people and more ways to use it. Halal joined the dietary preferences, and the app now reads Halal certification straight off the label automatically.

iOS stability fixes
A small maintenance release to firm up the production build. The main fix was the date-of-birth picker, which wasn't rendering properly for some people on the live iOS app. We also tidied Android spacing around the gesture bar and trimmed the download size.

Polish & faster search
A polish release focused on speed and clarity. Search was the headline: we moved to a faster engine so results stream in as you type instead of leaving you waiting. We also added the first-launch "What's New" screen, a marketing preferences screen and a proper date-of-birth picker, and ran a clinical accuracy pass over the nutrient watchlist so the numbers and ratings you see hold up right down to the per-serving level.

Bite Insight is live!
This is where it all began. Bite Insight launched to help you understand what's actually in the food you buy, just by scanning the barcode. Set up a profile around your diet and any health conditions, scan a product, and you get a clear breakdown of its nutrition, ingredients and Nutri-Score. Everything you scan is saved to your history, and the dashboard serves up a daily insight to keep things useful day to day.
