Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to common questions about Bite Insight.

Getting Started

Download Bite Insight from the App Store or Google Play. Open the app and tap “Create Account”. You’ll be guided through a quick 4-step onboarding process where you can set up your health profile, including any conditions, allergies, and dietary preferences.

The free plan includes barcode scanning of UK supermarket products, nutrition breakdowns, Nutriscore grading, personalised warnings, glycemic impact indicators, and scan history. Plus+ (£3.99/month) adds family profiles, ingredient flagging, global barcode scanning across 4.2M+ products, and more.

Scanning & Results

Tap the scan button in the app, point your camera at the product barcode, and hold steady. The app will automatically detect and scan it. Make sure you have good lighting and hold the barcode within the frame.

Nutriscore is a front-of-pack nutrition label that grades food products from A (best) to E (least favourable) based on their overall nutritional profile. It considers factors like calories, sugar, saturated fat, sodium, fibre, protein, and fruit/vegetable content.

Based on the health conditions, allergies, and dietary preferences you set in your profile, Bite Insight highlights ingredients that may be relevant to you. This includes allergen highlighting and health condition matching so you can make informed decisions at a glance.

The glycemic impact indicator shows how a food product is likely to affect blood sugar levels. Products are rated as Low, Moderate, High, or Very High impact. This is especially useful for people managing diabetes or monitoring their glucose intake.
